Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Bali’s Majestic Mountains

Welcome to the paradise island of Bali, where your adventure begins amidst the serene mountains and lush landscapes. On the first day of your trip, you’ll be immersing yourself in the natural beauty and cultural richness of Bali.

Morning: Arrival in Bali and Check-in

Upon your arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, you’ll be greeted by the warm tropical air and the vibrant atmosphere that Bali is famous for. After collecting your luggage, proceed to your reserved accommodation at the Bali Mountain Retreat.

The Bali Mountain Retreat offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by lush greenery, this retreat provides a perfect blend of comfort and nature. Take some time to relax, freshen up, and prepare for your day’s adventure.

Afternoon: Exploring Mount Batur

After a relaxing morning, head towards Mount Batur, one of Bali’s active volcanoes. Embark on a trekking journey to witness the breathtaking views at the top. The trek is relatively easy and suitable for most fitness levels.

Mount Batur’s caldera is a UNESCO Global Geopark and offers a unique landscape of volcanic rock and lush greenery. The hike up takes approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Remember to carry water, a hat, and sunscreen.

Once you reach the summit, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, Lake Batur, and the distant peaks of Mount Agung.

Evening: Enjoy a Traditional Balinese Dinner

After an exhilarating trek, it’s time to indulge in a traditional Balinese dinner. Head to a local restaurant or your accommodation’s dining area for a sumptuous meal featuring local delicacies such as

Babi Guling

(suckling pig),

Ayam Betutu

(slow-cooked chicken), and a variety of fresh seafood.

As you savor these delicious dishes, you’ll be able to reflect on the day’s adventures and plan the exciting days ahead.

Day 2: Trekking and Hot Springs at Mount Rinjani

Your second day in Indonesia will take you to the famed Mount Rinjani in Lombok. This day is all about a mix of adventurous trekking and relaxing in natural hot springs.

Morning: Travel to Lombok and Start the Trek

After a hearty breakfast at the Bali Mountain Retreat, you’ll take a flight from Denpasar Airport in Bali to Lombok International Airport. Upon arrival, head to the town of Senaru, the gateway to Mount Rinjani.

Once you reach Senaru, check into your accommodation at Rinjani Mountain Garden, a cozy place nestled in the hills, perfect for acclimatizing before your trek.

Afternoon: Trekking to Senaru Crater Rim

Post check-in, meet your local trekking guide who will brief you about the day’s trek. The trek to the Senaru Crater Rim is a popular route that offers mesmerizing views of lush forests, waterfalls, and, of course, the majestic Mount Rinjani.

The trek to the rim usually takes about 5-7 hours, depending on the pace. You will pass through dense tropical forests, so keep an eye out for local wildlife, including monkeys and a variety of bird species.

Upon reaching the Senaru Crater Rim, you’ll be greeted with stunning views of the crater lake, Segara Anak, and the caldera. This spot is perfect for capturing breathtaking photographs and soaking in the extraordinary landscape.

Evening: Relaxing in Hot Springs

After the physical exertion of the trek, it’s time to unwind in the natural hot springs near the crater lake. The hot water is rich in minerals and provides a soothing balm for your muscles after a long day of hiking.

These hot springs are believed to have therapeutic properties, and their tranquil setting amidst the mountains makes for a relaxing experience.

Returning to the Campsite

Wrap up the evening by heading back to your campsite for dinner. Enjoy a simple yet hearty meal under the stars and exchange stories with fellow trekkers.

Rest well in your tent, surrounded by the calming sounds of nature, as you prepare for the next leg of your mountain adventure the following day.

Mount Agung

Day 3: Summit of Mount Rinjani and Descent to Sembalun

On the third day, you will experience the exhilarating climb to the summit of Mount Rinjani and later descend to the lush landscapes of Sembalun.

Early Morning: Summit Climb

Your day starts early, around 2 AM, to begin the climb to Mount Rinjani’s summit. Though the climb is arduous and challenging, reaching the summit at sunrise makes the effort worthwhile. Make sure you have warm clothing, as the temperature drops significantly at higher elevations.

As you trek upwards, the trail becomes steeper and more demanding. The final section involves navigating loose scree, which can be tough but manageable with a steady pace and determination.

Upon reaching the summit at 3,726 meters, you’ll witness the most awe-inspiring sunrise view, with panoramic vistas of Bali, Mount Agung, Lombok, and the surrounding seas. This is a perfect opportunity for breathtaking photographs and to relish your achievement.

Mid-Morning: Return to Crater Rim Camp

After spending some time at the summit, you’ll begin your descent to the Senaru Crater Rim. This part of the trek offers a different perspective of the scenery you witnessed during your ascent. Once back at the camp, take a moment to rest, have a light breakfast, and gather your belongings to continue your journey.

Late Morning: Trek Down to Segara Anak Lake

Next, make your way down to Segara Anak Lake, nestled within the crater. The lake is a serene turquoise gem surrounded by the rugged beauty of Mount Rinjani. Many trekkers take this opportunity to dip their feet in its cool waters or simply relax by the shore.

Nearby, you can also explore the hot springs if you missed them the previous day. The combination of the lake and hot springs makes for a truly rejuvenating experience.

Afternoon: Descend to Sembalun Village

Post-lake visit, begin the descent to Sembalun Village. The trail takes you through diverse landscapes, from volcanic terrains to lush forests, rich with the flora and fauna that thrive in this region. The descent is easier compared to the ascent but still requires careful navigation.

As you approach Sembalun Village, the vistas of the surrounding valleys and farmlands open up, presenting a picturesque view. Your local guide will ensure you reach the village safely, where you can check into a local guesthouse or resort for a well-deserved rest.

Evening: Cultural Dinner and Rest

Experience authentic Sembalun hospitality by joining a local family or dining at a traditional restaurant. Enjoy local Lombok cuisine such as

Ayam Taliwang

(spicy grilled chicken) and

Pelecing Kangkung

(water spinach with spicy sambal).

As you savor the flavors of Lombok, reflect on the day’s adventures and the stunning natural beauty you’ve experienced. The friendly locals and the rustic charm of Sembalun Village offer a perfect end to an exhilarating day.

Head back to your accommodation for a peaceful night’s sleep, ready for the adventures that await the following day.
